Scientific Graphic Design

for researchers by a researcher

Science requires us to juggle thousands of tasks, often alone and always to a high standard. As a researcher myself, I know this pressure well.

I founded Knowlegible Designs to help others visually communicate their knowledge through professional, engaging graphics.

Over the years, I have discovered that my work gives researchers a fresh perspective on their work and helps them re-engage with why they love science. As a trained scientist I can (and will) ask the critical questions that make sure your work is being visuall communicated the way you want it to.

Think of me as a highly specialised collaborator, a critical part of your science toolbox. I can help you share your story to engage more successfully with stakeholders, funders, the public, and each other.

I look forward to working with you!

About Jess

Jess developed a deep desire to understand the natural world during long childhood hours spent exploring rockpools while her dad surfed. The daughter of creative parents, she was that kid at school who always went the extra mile to make her assignments visually stand out (she even built a model house for a project on French housing). Her career mission is to help other researchers feel proud in communicating their research.

Jess completed a PhD in marine biology at James Cook University, Australia, in 2016, and continues to feed her love of conservation research as a part-time Research Associate at Oregon State University, USA. She works remotely and currently lives on the beautiful Sunshine Coast with her husband, Tim, and their wolfhound cross, Cashie.

Over the years, I have discovered that my work gives researchers a fresh perspective on their work and helps them re-engage with why they love science. I do this through:

  • Working with your to create graphics that let your remarkable work shine. You will feel so proud when you see your work visualised that you can’t wait to share it!
  • Asking you critical questions about your research to make sure you are conveying the story you want to tell. As a designer who is also a researcher, I have the experience to talk science with you. This is helpful for clients developing grant applications but applies to everyone.

Think of me as a highly specialised collaborator, a critical part of your science toolbox. I can help you share your story to engage more successfully with stakeholders, funders, the public, and each other.

I look forward to working with you!
